Domaine de Lys Sacres

Domaine des Lys Sacres was created by Frederic Berne in 2006. He is the assistant winemaker to the well known estate of Robert Perroud. Mr. Peroud has given Frederic the opportunity to start his own estate by renting him vines and the use of his cellar. The vines are located on the steep Balloquets slope across from Mount Brouilly.

The volcanic soil, with it’s red granite and silt provide the wine with a natural minerality and freshness. Frederic works 8 acres of 45+ year old Gamay Vines at an altitude of 300-350 meters. Lys Sacres is in reference to old times – when the lilies around the vineyards blossomed, it signaled the winemakers that the harvest would be best to start in 90 days.
