Domaine Gilles Barge has been making wines in Ampuis since 1860! Pierre Barge was the first generation family member, and now the domaine is run by 3rd generation member Gilles with the help of his son Julien, who continues the tradition. The Cuvee Plessy is named after a retired local wine-maker who rents his vines to Gilles.
It is made from vines planted in the 1950s and is in the Cote Blone part of Cote Rotie. Their Cote Brune is a more limited production wine which averages only 5,000 bottle per year. The cellar has been completely modernized back in 2000 in order to be dedicated to the best vinification possible for the future.
